Eye care:

EYE CARE MONTH 20 SEPTEMBER-17 OCTOBER

Why is eye health important

Your eyesight is one of your most important senses: 80% of what we perceive comes through our sight. You need to protect your eyes; you will reduce the odds off blindness and developing eye diseases such as carats and glaucoma.

You must maintain a healthy sitting posture that does not put much strain on your eyes.

Always use sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful UVA.

Clean your eyes daily to get rid of the bacteria in your eyes before you go to bed.

How to clean your eyes:

* Use your tears; gently pull your upper eyelid down so it hangs over your lower lashes.

* Flush it. You can also rinse your eyes with cool water from the sink.

* Wipe it.  If there is a small object on your eyeball you can gently wipe with a wet

face cloth.

Never rub your eyes:

Because if you chronic rub your eyes it causes micro-scratches on the cornea and those scratches can cause serious damage.

There are 6 reasons to have an eye check-up:

  1. Avoid eye problems
  2. Detect other diseases
  3. Keep eyes healthy
  4. Genetic eye problems
  5. Use of eyeglasses
  6. Improve quality of life

You should go for your eye test once every 2 years.
